Welcome to Jeevaniyam Ayurveda Hospital
One of the biggest challenges faced by the parents of autistic kids is to manage their hyper reflexes and to calm them in anxiety and pressure. Autistic kids tend to be restless and panicked most of the time which becomes difficult each time.
Joint compression exercises reveal to be a quick and an effective method to help the child to be more organized, calm and best suited to handle stress. Joint compression is basically providing input to the joints, at shoulders, wrists, fingers etc in order to initialize the proprioceptive input. Proprioceptive input is the sensations from joints, connective tissues, and muscles that underlie body awareness. It can be achieved through lifting, pulling, and pushing heavy objects, including one's own weight.
Joint compression relaxes, calms down and avoids the stress in the kid. Also, joint compression exercises use the human touch effect which increases production of norepinephrine and dopamine. Norepinephrine and dopamine are two neurotransmitters that regulate the mood, motivates, lowers anxiety levels, and handles depression. The goal of joint compression exercises is to get the kid’s body into sync before we ask anything of him/ her.
Joint compression promotes self- organization and improves attention span of an autistic child. It almost covers major skill developments for an autistic child. It improves the ability for the transition between each activity. These exercises can decrease tactile defensiveness. It also helps in increasing self-regulation skills and also improves the ability of the nervous system to process information from the surrounding environment. It also improves the cognitive skills by improving the focus and attention. In short, almost all of the sensory issues faced by the ASD children are addressed through joint compression exercises.
We, at Jeevaniyam, try to bring that wide curve of a smile on each kid’s face by the generous care and the treatment that is up to the point. Joint compression exercises for the kid and the training for parents have been considered as one of our concerns. We smile when your needs are met!
