Overview

Every sensation shapes how we move, learn, and interact with the world. At our Department of Sensory Integration Therapy (SIT), we support individuals who experience difficulties processing sensory information such as touch, sound, movement, sight, or smell.

Sensory challenges can affect daily functioning, emotional regulation, learning, and social participation. Whether it is a child overwhelmed by everyday sensations or an adult struggling with balance, coordination, or sensory overload, our goal is to improve comfort, confidence, and quality of life.

Our approach is holistic and individualized—combining evidence-based sensory integration techniques with Occupational Therapy, Ayurveda, Yoga, and Music Therapy to support balanced sensory and emotional regulation.

It is often used to help individuals with sensory processing disorders, such as those on the autism spectrum, who may have difficulty integrating and organizing sensory information from the environment.

Therapists also find that sensory integration therapy can help with other issues in autism, like lack of peer group play and altered emotional regulation.

Autistic children can have trouble combining sensory information in normal & healthy ways. The idea of sensory integration therapy is to use physical activities and exercises to help children learn to interpret and use sensory information more effectively.

Ayurveda explains the role of sense organs, sensory pathways, mind, intellect and spirit in the perception of knowledge. All these organs work together for a sensory stimulus to become a perception.

Any defect in any of these pathways can alter the sensation & the feeling of the person. Ayurveda also says that intellect controls the sensory organs through the mind. In such a case, both the physical and emotional realms should be addressed and managed in a proper way.
